I've been a happy Parsix user for a few months now and loving it on my desktop.
I have an older Averatec 3200 notebook which is a little finicky. Not all linux will run on it and very few of the new versions. Last successful distro was Pclos 007. I was very happy to see Parsix boot up and give me a desktop but I have one big problem - the keyboard. No matter what I try in keyboard layout and settings I cannot get the right letters assigned to the right keys.
Any help would be appreciated.

I need US/Canada standard laptop keyboard layout.

I have tried many options in layout but my "b" is always "0" for instance.

If you want to turn numlock off automatically at startup, install numlockx:
Code:
apt-get install numlockx

Then in Gnome menu System/Preferences/Sessions, add command:
Code:
numlockx off

If you sometime want to turn on numlock, run command or add to session:
Code:
numlockx on

Thanks for the help. I have not had time to do anything with my Parsix install lately. I will try the numlock command and post back.
