Sorry to do another post, I am stuck on this one.
I have Crossover Standard in a .deb package. In Ubuntu all I had to do to install was click on it, in Parsix that won't work, I tried Nautilus and package manager.
I can extract it but that is not much good.

File is :>
crossover-standard_7.0.2-1_i386.deb

Can anyone advise please.

In Ubuntu I got these to work in Crossover.

PocoMail a great email program
Mailwasher Pro 6.1 Check your emails when they are in the server and any not wanted are deleted off the server
MacroScheduler 9.2 Make your own macros to do what you want.
Wordweb. Spell checker and thesaurus
Notes Holder. Little yellow stickers to make notes on.

easy;
1. Open a Terminal
2. "su" to switch to Super User
3. Enter root password.
4. type "dpkg -i /path/to/deb/package"
5. Hit Enter
Done.

Gdebi Is broken upstream But Gdeb is not so you can use that if you have any problems.

you did use gdeb not gdebi cause gdeb works perfect for me on both Parsix & Sidux.

I'm not surprised I didn't get gdeb to work, I didn't realise I had to install it.

Ever feel stoopit, oh boy. My excuse is I have only been at Linux for 2 weeks.

Thanks.

OK folks,
mandog, your mouse pointers suggestion worked, good on you and thanks.

I've just got my second Parsix install setup, except for getting my Crossover deb installed.

I "think" I've got gdeb installed, all I need is the syntax to use, could a kind person post it for me please,
and the path as I'm not sure on this one.
The package is on my desktop, but I can put it in a folder somewhere if required.

I'm confused at the moment, all commands or how to do this or that I have put into notes and saved them, going through them all to configure this install has my mind in a fuzz.
Fonts are installed, about 2,000 (seems like that) mouse pointers I got downloaded, internet set up, and a few others.
All I need is the deb package installed and I'm just about there

Yep, I got it installed, more by good luck and just "blundering" about.

I right clicked on the deb package, selected an option and eventually I got the correct option.

Gdeb is really very easy to use (similar to Gdebi.) Simply right-click on any deb file; select properties and then select the tab for 'open with'; tick the chckbox for Gdeb; click close. Now, when you double-click any deb package, Gdeb will open with options to install. Good luck!
