Hi guys,
I've not get response to my question of Parsix's
mailing-list, so I ask it here again.
I can not set Persian(Farsi) language translation in Parsix 1.0r1 Gnome desktop environment. I tried many methods:
1. using dpkg-reconfigure locales
2. boot with lang=fa option
3. selecting new language in login screen as new
session.
4. adding new source to source list from Ubuntu daper,
harder, ... and updating language-pack-fa ,
language-pack-gnome-fa , ...
5. installing language-selector and fetching new
language using gnome-language-selector
in any of above method, I only got login screen
translated into Persian language but after login I see
English version.
Please help me!
Looking forward to your responses.
Cheers,
Pedram |

Thanks Alan for your answer.
I used live CD in this manner:
1. from boot screen I pressed F2 and selected "fa" as language.
2. When system loaded, still was english. I executed "dpkg-reconfgure locales" and set fa_IR language.
3. Logged out from system and choose Farsi as language in login menu.
4. when system was loading an error message came into screen which was: "Language fa_IR doesn't exist, using System Default."
all and all! again English language version. |

Hey, I know that bug for sure
Live CD:
1) Select Farsi with F2 (and maybe screenmode if you need widescreen with arrow keys)
2) Select command line options, and add to it lang=fa
3) Ta-da, Live CD in Farsi, or other language (my is lang=fi)
Installed system:
1) In Root Terminal: gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
2) there add to all kernels command lines: lang=fa, I mean like this in one line:
Code:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro ramdisk_size=100000 lang=fa apm=power-off nomce quiet vga=791 resume=swap:/dev/sda2
3) Reboot
4) Ta-da, language changed! |

Code:
title Parsix GNU/Linux 1.0r1, kernel 2.6.23-parsix-17 Default
root (hd0,7)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hdb8 ro ramdisk_size=100000 lang=fa apm=power-off nomce quiet vga=791 resume=swap:/dev/hdb7
initrd /boot/initrd.img
title Parsix GNU/Linux 1.0r1, kernel 2.6.23-parsix-17
root (hd0,7)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.23-parsix-17 root=/dev/hdb8 ro ramdisk_size=100000 lang=fa apm=power-off nomce quiet vga=791 resume=swap:/dev/hdb7
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.23-parsix-17
### END DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST
title Windows 2K/XP/2003 (hdb1)
chainloader (hd0,0)+1
May be Parsix have problem only with Farsi (Persian) language not others. |

OK guys, finally I found solution for Persian language problem here is a solution:
1. Insert Live CD and press on F6.
2. Add line lang=fa in front of boot=parsix and press enter
3. after loading system you will see persian language working.
4. Install new parsix in this case. so your system default language changes to farsi.
I think my problem back to two thing:
1. in login panel (gdm) persian language selection not working.
2. when I install ubuntu language packs it destroy persian language pack on parsix and they are not compatible with parsix.
any how I add login panel bug to bugzilla since first time without installing ubuntu language pack it doesn't work for me.
Thank every one who help me on this problem.
Hope to see Parsix better and better every day. |

Hi!
Is there any possible to way to change the interface language into Russian? I tried to run dpkg-reconfigure locales and Synaptic is all in Russian now but the rest of the programes are in English.
I want my father to use Parsix, because I think it is a great operation system, but my dad doesn't know any English at all. |
