I was looking for an interesting Linux distro to use on a Toshiba Satellite laptop I was planning on getting, and ended up deciding on Persix. I downloaded the latest .iso, burned it on a CD and tested it on my desktop. Worked fine.

Today, I got the laptop and booted it from the CD. Three times. Each time it failed, reporting that it couldn't find the Live Media. Right now, I'm installing Fedora 10 on it, to get rid of the plague of Gatesware, but I'd be willing to blow that away to put Parsix on if anybody can tell me what's going wrong.

Your desktop's CD reader and your laptop's CD reader are different. Chances are your laptop's CD reader is pickier than the one in your workstation. It may sound silly, but that's probably what it comes down to. Try reburning Parsix more slowly, on better CD media. Try burning it using your laptop.

You'd be surprised how often that solves that particular problem.

I've been having trouble beating F 10 into submission, so tried what you suggested. Alas, it didn't work. Thanx anyway.

I found out what's probably the answer for my computer: the Toshiba Satellite is very picky about what distros will work. Fedora 10 hangs after 15 to 30 minutes, but Fedora 11 is rock-stable. Alas, that lets Parsex out, but I'll keep it in mind for the future.

Downloaded 3.0rc3, md5 checks, from Linuxmint7 gnome used Unetbootin to put it on 4GB usb pendrive formatted first to ext2 then to fat32 to install on my AA1-semi-desktop. Alas, I get the same problem. Only entry that works is the Default, but it says it can't find live media.

Had a similar problem with the rc2 on core2duo desktop. Maybe unetbootin is the problem? or Linuxmint. Going to try from sidux tracking testing for another usb creator choice.

Hi, Parsix is not supporting installation on USB pendrives. We are planning this for 3.5.

Thanks.
Sorry to hear it since I have to use the AA1 connected to montitor, mouse & keyboard for a few more weeks until return home. Sad Other than this problem it serves very well.

But, I'll try it on another box later today.

[Edit: but happy to hear it's coming.
Is it possible to use fromiso to install?]

I'll try the pendrive on a desktop box later today.
{I mean, copy iso from pendrive to desktop, to burn and try out.}
