I have Parsix 2.0 Gnome Iceweasel browser that will not run a CBSSports.com page correctly.

The way this page is supposed to work is it updates itself automatically so the scores and game info are currant. But my Parsix Iceweasel is not doing so. I am not sure what drives this page, but I have Java and Flash installed. If anyone wants to check this out I have provided the link below. Visit this page early evening hours when games are active Monday Thru Friday or on weekends mid afternoon or evenings USA time.

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/scoreboard

I hope I can find an answer for this !

What I had installed first was Macromedia Flash Player, I removed that and installed Adobe flash but that does not work for me either. I restarted Iceweasel plus I did a reboot which did not make any difference.

I don't know what to think ! I do have a couple of distros on this computer where this does work. Ubuntu and Parsix does not. This is very important to me because I am a big college basketball fan also and use this same site for basketball scores and info when in season.

Parsix looks good to me so far, I am very interested in it. This is the only issue I have with Parsix. I have checked every thing else out and all is fine. If I get this issue fixed then the last thing I will be doing is setting up a xfce desktop, my favorite.

Any other ideas or suggestion on my non-working flash are welcome.

bkashaf and mandog, I did as you both suggested. Now I will have to wait till the games become active later on this afternoon to see the results.

Evidently gnash is intall by default in Parsix. You both sound confidant that it will resolve this issue........I will be back !

cheers,
BakUp

All that did not help. Now when I go to this page, at the top I do get a message though which I never did get before:

Quote:
Live Scoring Notice
It appears that Flash version 8 or greater is not installed in your browser. You may download and install it here:
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

But when I follow the link above I do not get a download option.

This is also the same as using Iceweasel following the path of > tools > add-ons > browse all add-ons > Plugins > Adobe Flash Player......you end up in the same place as the link above, but again I do not find a download option on that page. When I go to "select which version to download" it is blank.......no selection available.

This is so easy ! I have installed this plugin before many times, am I having a bad day ? Am I missing something simple ?

.

Well, I went back to square 1 or plan A and used Synaptic and reinstalled "Macromedia Flash Player" again, which is what I had installed in the first place, but this time when I restarted Iceweasel my flash is working.

Not sure what was wrong originally and not sure what chain of events resolved the issue. But the important thing is it is resolved. My " Iceweasel CBSSports.com Page" functions as advertised and I am happy.

I want to thank the ones that made a valiant effort to help me !
Now I can go on and polish off my Parsix install with a xfce desktop and I will be a happy Parsix user.......thanks Dev's for Parsix !

Best Regards,
BakUp
