[SOLVED] Undefined Video Boot Problem

I am having a problem on boot up with my Parsix 2.0, I get this message:

undefined video mode number: 317.....please press <enter> to see video modes available, <space> to continue or wait 30 seconds


I have tried changing the mode but that does not have any affect. When I press the space bar or wait 30 seconds everything boots up fine and am able to login and the system works normal.

Seeing there does not seem to be a problem at all despite this message, is there a way I could disable this message ? Is there a file in which I can change the "wait 30 seconds" to 0 ?

I have just completed the latest Dist-Upgrade, I still get the same message as I did on the fresh install.

Just open /boot/grub/menu.list using root user and remove that "vga=791" from kernel lines and save it. Are you installing it on netbook?

No, this is on a desktop with 6 Linux distros on it.

i have also run into this problem with an old CRT monitor. another fix is changing the vga=791 to vga=normal, but for some reason every kernel upgrade i need to re-edit menu.lst

is there a way to make this option "stick"?
