Post subject: Apt ignores /etc/apt/preferences

| I've noticed that Apt appears to ignore any /etc/apt/preferences file, if present. I'm trying to pin a particular repository so that packages from it are preferred over the same package from other repositories, regardless of the version. I have done this several times before with other Debian based distributions. Parsix, however, seems to simply ignore this file. I've pinned a particular repository with a Pin-priority of 999, however, when I run apt-cache policy at the command line, all repositories show up with a Pin-priority of 500. I've tried numerous syntax changes, etc., but to no avail. Any ideas why /etc/apt/preferences appears to be simply ignored? |

Is there a hidden file somewhere in Parsix that controls package preferences? I swear, nothing I do will get Apt to respect what I put in /etc/apt/preferences... I have a couple packages I want to PIN. While I can so so in Synaptic by selecting "lock package" using Apt at the command line has a mind of its own. Please assist. Thanks. |
