I'm currently using Beep media player, as all the others seem to hit a stumbling block along the way, Some with not saving radio stations, some unable to find my dvd/rom, I use the plextor only for writing if possible, others just crashing and others that do not even work. Is this just confined to 64bt or 32bt as well Your own views much appreciated

For quick playing of mp3's I use Audacious...for everything else, including play lists, streaming media, etc. I use the Listen media player. In the past, my former favorite was Exaile until they changed it so it no longer remembers shoutcast streams on exit. I found Banshee-1 to be pure crap (buggy as hell!) and Rhythmbox is a bit too unwieldy. Listen seems perfect.

I must agree on your comments the older banshee was really good but the new version is pure rubbish on my system.

I don't usually listen radio stations or watch dvd:s on my laptop, but I use other media sure. I remember sometime watching DVD with VLC or MPlayer, I use those for most media.

MPlayer Iceweasel plugin is installed accoding to my howto:

For online videos I also use Flash:
Code:
apt-get install flashplayer-mozilla

I'm in progress of moving it to wiki, and translating to Finnish:

Has anyone tried Banshee 1.2 yet? Maybe it isn't as buggy. I like the concept of banshee, mainly because of the Video/Audio integration, but they are one of the most innovative media player developers around for linux, sorry don't like amaroK. Now as for songbird, I can't stand all this stuff about integrating a web browser into it, they are completely unrelated.

My thoughts exactly (even better with smb support compiled in!). However, bmp is rather old by now. Still i would have liked a rewrite of the original bmp instead of that new one. I always wondered why no linux mediaplayer could do what winamp does, bmp/audacious comes close though.

Anyway, i've found a new piece of software called "Mesk". Simple, good looking, and it just works. No fuzz.

I've had no working pbuilder since "ramon", but since it's a python package it will probably work just as well for "viola";

Wait BMP is discontinued. Are you using BMPx or the old BMP mandog. BMP has been forked a long time ago and renamed as Audacious.

Audacious is now back on track used with streamtuner just change xmms to Audacious in /home/kelvin/.streamtuner config and its away. notifications also work well after some fiddling about with the settings. play list for cd is also working correctly things are looking good. There are some nice skins for VLC
on the site.

Exaile. Seems to work great in Parsix. Although, I've had real issues with it in other distros.
